IARPA DECIPHER — Detecting Coded and Obfuscated Language in Information Operations

DECIPHER creates capabilities to detect and define specialized language in diverse multilingual text collections, targeting: acronyms with multiple meanings, deliberately obfuscated language (coded language used in coordinated information operations), and emergent jargon that non-experts cannot interpret. Directly applicable to detecting narrative manipulation, propaganda code words, and coordinated information operations across social media platforms and messaging channels. Part of the IARPA Emerging Technology Accelerator multi-program vehicle. White papers accepted on a rolling basis.
